Time For Change
It may be an uphill battle to curb government spending and bring meaningful property tax relief to the Garden state, but if you don’t vote for change, there isn’t any possibility we will get change.
The Asbury Park Press has a great piece - Say no to big spenders, yes to cost-cutters. Give it a read.

Thank you Enlighten!
End one party rule in Hamilton Township, Mercer County too. It's been 5 years of scandal after scandal, from PREI, Columbia Group high rise high density housing (16 units per acre)- a heavy political contributor to Gilmore's campaign, a $30 mil PILOT for 30 years with zero dollars going to a school system that's bursting at the seams, to the biggest scandal of all: Mayor Gilmore negotiating with Fieldstone Associates to buy wetlands Fieldstone bought 4 years ago for $375,000. Gilmore's negotiated price - $4.1 million dollars. Let Hamilton Township, Mercer County be the prime example of what can go terribly wrong when you have a dem mayor and all dem council.
Some very believable charges are being leveled again this blog & its writer. Are they true? Is this Blg really a "mouthpiece?" Looking back over past posts, it's difficult not to think so.
Anonymous, Thanks for the tip. We had no idea being in agreement with the Star-Ledger, Courier-Post, Asbury Park Press, Bergen Record, Trentonian, etc.on this election was controversial. Have you read their endorsements of Forrester for Governor? Is it because we have made those same points, but earlier than the newspapers that has you upset?
How shocking it must be for you to find a blog with posts against inequitable state funding for schools, more state spending a la Corzine’s proposals, obscenely high property taxes and more Democrat party machine politics in New Jersey.
My, goodness we even support President Bush and our county’s effort in Iraq. Imagine, people with that opinion, right here in New Jersey.
Much like Forrester responding to the question "Have you ever had an affair?" by saying "I'm very proud of my marriage." you respond to the question of whether or not your a mouthpiece for Forrester or the NJGOP by saying "I'm proud to be a Republican." Why not just say yes or no? Because you don't want to say yes and lose credibility, and you have just enough ethics not to lie and say no.
And no one has a problem with you expressing an opinion. Its the smears against Corzine that had no proof that people are upset about.
Anon,
If you had bothered to read Enlighten NJ before the rumors, you would know that it is not a mouthpiece for Forrester, nor for the Republicans. Would such a mouthpiece call for the removal of a sitting Republican state senator? Would a Forrester front say this? "We like Bret Schundler because he really changed government in Jersey City – a city that was only about 6% Republican when he ran for mayor."
Enlighten New Jersey has consistently come down on the issues in favor of New Jersey tax payers, not tax receivers.
That's fine. What has it become after the rumors?
Annon,
If you had read actually read our blog it’s doubtful you would believe we are a “mouth piece” for the Republican Party. Our views are our views. No one tells us what to write, how to write it or when to write. We don’t receive talking point memos and we don’t tow the Party line. We have never received a dime from a candidate or a political party. We don’t have ads.
We have never met or spoken to Doug Forrester or anyone involved in his campaign. We did email them, along with all the other Republican candidates and ask for a “why should we vote for you in the primary” post. Schundler and Forrester replied and we posted what we received from those two candidates, The other Republican candidates did not respond or contribute a post. We emailed the Forrester campaign for a “why vote for Forrester for Governor” post. We have not received a post and at this point, it wouldn’t appear as though we will.
Don’t recall posting that we are proud to be Republicans, but now that you bring it up, you’ll be happy to know we are. We are also proud to be Americans.
We wrote a post noting that a story was about to break about Jon Corzine that would make McGreevey look like a boy scout. Was that true or false? Mrs. Corzine gave several interviews to a number of reporters and she spilled the beans. Are you under the impression that the New York Times, the Star-Ledger, etc. take their leads from this blog? That doesn’t seem likely, does it?
People are free to accept or reject what Mrs. Corzine had to say. We believe her. Why do you think she choose to speak out now? Do you think she’s telling the truth? Mrs. Corzine thought the topic was relevant to the election. No one hunted her down and made her speak he mind.
“No comment, this is a personal, family matter. - was not the quote we read.. She went public and apparently didn’t think the topic was so personal that her opinion shouldn’t be printed in major newspapers. Why did she speak up? Why did the NYT, Star-Ledger, etc. interview her? Why did they print what she had to say? Did you send a letter of complaint to the editor of the Times. If so, what was their response?
Who is publicizing our blog and spreading rumors? The revelations, beyond those attributed to Mrs. Corzine first appeared in a piece that was cross-posted on MyDD, Daily Kos and Blue New Jersey by “jmilli” apparently in repose to our post. A sort of know what they know, but it’s bunk, post. This is what you would refer to as the "smear."
We didn’t know what he knew. But funny, when the “staffer” story broke in the media, it turns out the “in the know” “jmelli was correct. Strange no? He posts the “smear” on one of the most widely read blogs and you’re upset with what we posted. Now he’s come up with a conspiracy theory with a small NJ blog at the center. Just one giant conspiracy with us pulling the strings, right? Check the time line.
Finally, we were under the impression Matt Stoller of the Corzine campaign was one of pioneers in the use of bloggers to work in conjunction with Democratic political campaigns and “progressive” issue projects.
Perhaps this is why you think all bloggers are part of a similar network.
This website is not a mouthpiece. However, the posts often read like campaign literature.

Well, that didn't work. I didn't think it would in Princeton anyway...
