A Victim of Taxpayer Generosity and Life-saving Drug Companies
Recently a woman wrote a letter about Medicare Part D that appeared in the Asbury Park Press. She calls the new prescription drug benefit a scam, an injustice, anit-senior and a giveaway to the drug companies. In other words, she’s been convinced by nonstop political demagoguery that she is a victim.
Her prescriptions would have cost her $880.16 each month or $10,562 annually, if not for the Medicare plan she chose which includes “doughnut hole” coverage for all “generic and brand name” drugs. Her total annual cost will be $1,620 with her $135 month Medicare Part D premium. She’s been convinced her $8,942 savings on life-saving or enhancing drugs is some sort of scam. Doubtful it has ever entered her mind that it is the American taxpayer who pays the difference.
She writes that pharmaceutical companies are “dragging down the individuals much as they did in the Gilded Age”. It apparently never crossed her mind that stockholders own the drug companies and that means average working Americans, pension funds and retirees – Rockefeller (D-WV) sits in the U.S. Senate. Men and women, a large share working right here in New Jersey, make their living by bringing her those drugs upon which she depends. But she’s been convinced these people are greedy. Doubtful it has ever entered her mind where she would be without pharmaceutical company stockholders and employees.

In other words, "I'm old! GIMMIE GIMMIE GIMMIE!!!"
Everybody wants to be another Winifred Skinner!
It's horrifying to think that this person's vote counts just as much as mine. In a democracy (kleptocracy), these kinds of people will vote to enslave you, your children and your grandchildren to their unending greed. That is one good reason why we must fight to preserve the Republic and the US Constitution at all costs.
I can't decide if the entitlement comes from age or if a particularly entitled bunch of codgers is moving through the snake right now. FDR handout relics.
Whichever, God help us if this sense of entitlement becomes universal.

Democrats and the media have people like this brainwashed into believing the made-up horrors of capitalism. She's obviously too stupid to even wonder where all this 'benefit' comes from, the socialist fairy?
Its a waste of time to try to explain to her that had the 'government' been responsible for drug development and testing since WWII the life expectancy in the US would be under 65.
Won't be long though before Hillary gets her socialist health care and we end up like Canada and the UK.
Since this stupid lady doesn't think $8,942 is a lot to save, I think we should all ask her to write us out a check for that amount. I work 80-100 hours/week, paying tens of thousands into programs I'll never be a recipient of. I'd love to somehow save that much on ANYTHING.
Oh, and with all that working, I still find time to workout & eat right so that I won't be overly dependent on drugs when I am her age.
I found a great deal of helpful info here!
