Corzine Care

New Jersey’s going broke and Jon Corzine, the soon to be Democrat nominee for governor, is proposing a universal health care plan.

Jon Corzine has proposed a health care plan that would provide care for hundreds of thousands of state residents who lack health insurance.

Corzine said that all children and pregnant women would have "universal access to health care." He also proposed allowing more families to join the state's FamilyCare program at half the cost of buying health insurance on the open market.

Corzine said his proposal would require an "upfront investment of no more than $15 million."
Corzine Care would cover 776,000 people for an up front investment of $15 million. What’s the $15 mil for - the marketing campaign to get to people to sign up for Corzine Care? Let’s see, $15 million divided by 776,000 comes to $19.33 per person. How dumb does Corzine think we are? Upfront indeed.

Nice tone. You guys do understand that "up front" means the *first* round of money, right? And I'm sure that you get that the $19.33 figure is what it takes to get the program started, not how much it will cost to run it.

Programs cost money. Taking care of people's health is worth it.

So what's your point? We would like a better understanding of "all the rounds" of money.

We think Corzine is trying to give the impression that $15 million takes care of the problem. Some might call Corzine's ploy deceptive advertising.

Would you buy something if the seller didn't tell you the total cost?

New jersey taxpayers are already paying for the State's Family Care program, Medicaid, Medicare, health clinics and on and on.

Ask the people of Tenn. what they think of TennCare, now bankrupting that state.

No one tells you the full cost. No one tells us the whole truth. Saying that Corzine thinks we're dumb because of it is just cherry-picking - the problem is everywhere.

That's my point. Or at least the point of my "nice tone" comment.

Wow! the one true tami. New Jersey is being spent into oblivion. What programs are you going to cancel to justify spending the amount of money it would cost to insure 776K people.

What would that cost be $1,000 per person per year? 2K? 3K? Is it a self insured program? 15K? 50K?

Maybe we should start requirng candidates to tell us the "whole truth". What tone do you take when someone purposely tries to deceive your neighbors?

We find it insulting when a candidate puts out such a ridiculous cost for a program for the purpose of confusing people.

Perhaps you think it's okay. We don't.

Potentially over $3 billion per year. See my post.

Maybe because Corzine is a human ATM machine with local poltical bosses he thinks New Jersey taxpayers should reciprocate when it comes to Corzine's own programs. It's always easy to spend someone else's money. How about paring down government first then thinking about spending tax dollars. In the interest of upfront disclosures how about starting with Corzine's own finances, his relationship with Norcross and why the Attorney general has yet to release the tapes. I would still be surprised if Corzine didn't win the election considering the correlation between dollars being spent and electability. It's hard to believe with the intellectual wealth that exists in this state that both Republicans and Democrats couldn't raise better candidates. Maybe it's just not possible at this point.

Ken:

I own a small business and the cost for a Single Insured is $446.00 per month. I think, however, that the state would self insure. More like Medicaid. That means we have to add an entire new bureaucracy to negotiate with health care providers and maintain the system. This is the reason that no one wants to spin off Horizon as a public company. That's the mechanism the pols want to use to administer it.

At 4:38 PM, Blogger Ken Adams said...

So lets assume that your insurance company breaks even at $446/month, and their costs are similar to those the state will face. At that rate, this program will cost the state $346.1 million per month, or $4.153 billion per year. Even if they self-insure, their selected population will probably consume that much in services, since 'free' services usually receive unlimited demand.

Basically, we're screwed, unless we stop Corzine.

Yep, NJ is going broke. Thank you Governor Whitman and the Repub legislature of the 90's for the largest portion of that.

I guess that justifies the ....what was it?......17 per cent increase during the Dem administration? Stop being a hypocrite.

The Tax Return Crack-Up<3>
Granted, there are usuallyMicrosoft Office 2010write-ups when presidential contenders make their tax returns available, but the coverage falls far short of the Office 2010
full court press (pardon the pun) that the Clintons have received. What's Microsoft Office 2007different now?Office 2007One possibility is that most upper middle class Democrats, and therefore most Microsoft OfficeOffice 2007 keyeditors and reporters of our nation's big papers as well as Office 2007 downloadtelevision producers, are Obama supporters who think that Hillary should hurry up Office 2007 Professionaland drop out of the race already.Microsoft outlook
Microsoft outlook 2010Whom elite liberals are pulling for really does shape political coverage in ways
