What's Next
In April of 2005 the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission dead locked over whether Doug Forrester should be allowed to participate in broadcast debates with his Republican rivals because he was self financing his campaign.
Now we read Doug Forrester's gubernatorial bid could be affected by a story in Sunday's Philadelphia Inquirer that suggested his ownership stake in a Washington D.C. insurance company might bar him from funding his own campaign.
Next month we expect to learn New Jersey law forbids Republicans to run for office in the state. Not much of a stretch considering Lautenberg last month said the Vice President of the United States should be barred from New Jersey because he is a Republican.

Codey should rename the street in front of the Governor's house "Tammany Hall Drive" as a symbolic gesture to welcome Corzine in his eventual new digs.
Ah, ye of little faith – Corzine next address is by no means a forgone conclusion.
I can't stand how corrupt NJ politics are. But NJ keeps voting the dem's into office. I don't get it.
What Lautenberg actully said, I think, was that Cheney should be barred from the state because he represented a corrupt administration. I assume this was because New Jersey has already achieved its corruption quota.
According to the article we linked to in the post: All week, Corzine and his surrogates held several news conferences labeling Forrester, Bush and Cheney "too extreme for New Jersey"
Lautenberg said: "These are radical conservatives for the Bush administration. What are they doing in New Jersey? They ought to be barred from New Jersey,"
Can we bring in Bret Schundler now?
JG, it wouldn't matter, Bret's a Republican too. The Democrats would have discovered he earned a living and owned a home in New Jersey, thus making him unfit for to run for office.
Only people that have never worked in New Jersey, don't own property in New Jersey, etc. are qualfied to be Governor of the Garden State.
I got a call last night from a pollster, a barely literate fellow reading questions that seemed at first to be from a Forester push-poll.
Are you familiar with Katz etc? Is it a private matter as Corzine says or a public issue? Will it affect Corzine's honesty in office?
Sounded pretty much like fishing for answers favorable to the Forester campaign. But then the questions turned.
Corzine believes affordable health care is NJ's biggest problem. Will improving access to health care improve NJ? Will employers be more likely to site in NJ? Would you support Corzine if you knew he would do what he could to improve health care?
So I don't know whose poll it was. The kids were in the tub and I was cooking dinner so I didn't pay as much attention as I could have, but I made it clear I didn't believe a word Corzine said about his affair and about health care or anything else.
Anyway, if you should see a poll story that might have been taken from that questionnaire, I hope you'll post it. And thanks for your efforts. When I was asked how familiar I am with these issues, I was able to say "Very".
