"Ideas still matter in politics," says Todd Caliguire. "The only way we're going to beat Jon Corzine — because we're not going to match his money — is to have better ideas about how to make our state better."

"And good for him," said Rebovich, head of the political science department at Rider University. "But he's got no real name recognition, no real support among Republican operatives and insiders, and not a lot of money. In politics, you're doomed."
