Menendez And Lautenberg Choose Sides

“To express the sense of the Senate that General David H. Petraeus, Commanding General, Multi-National Force-Iraq, deserves the full support of the Senate and strongly condemn personal attacks on the honor and integrity of General Petraeus and all members of the United States Armed Forces.”

That measure passed the U.S. Senate 75 to 25. New Jersey Senators Bob Menendez and Frank Lautenberg both voted no, meaning they don’t believe our country’s Commanding General in Iraq deserves their support and that attacks against the honor and integrity of all members of the United States Armed Forces are not worthy of their commendation.

Yesterday, Senators Menendez and Lautenberg voted in favor of a bill to expand the rights of foreign terrorist detainees and prisoners or war. The measure was defeated.

Hillary and a few other alleged candidates for the democrat nomination also voted no.

She and they want to be Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces?

I believe Zell Miller said it best.

Much hay is being made about this vote. And while I loathe the MoveOn.org ad and that the Democratic presidential candidates (save Biden) won't denounce MoveOn.org, the vote is silly.

This is not the representation I want in D.C. We have a state assemblyman around here who likes to pass these proclamations. Do some real work and leave the pettiness to the news junkies.

Bob, What’s silly, the “vote” or the admendements? I’m currious what “real work” you’d like the Senate to “vote” on.

The vote.

Proclamations mean nothing. I'd like to see Congress working on appropriation bills so government continues to run. I'd like to see the tax code overhauled. To me, that is the work we elect these folks to do.

Who cares if there is a proclamation saying that Congress supports Gen. Petraeus? Did we learn anything new with this? Nope. Clinton, Obama, Edwards et al. still won't criticize Soros.

Did we need to use taxpayer time and resources to find that out? Did we move any closer to passing legislation for next year on time? Nope.

No real work was done.

I care about those votes. In them Hillary Clinton revealed that she is without character. And we will be having an election for President next year.

She did not just refuse to vote in favor of a statement condemning MoveOn.org's cheap and disgusting attempt at character assassination of General David Petraeus, as a man who has betrayed his country.

She actually took a position publicly belittling some of the obvious successes we are currently experiencing on the ground in Iraq, and directly challenged the credibility of General David Petraeus, who is more responsible than anyone for those successes. She might as well have said to his face that he was a liar.

Richard Cohen correctly pointed out in the Washington Post, that she is the one who has made a veritable career of decrying those engaging in the "politics of personal destruction."

It is an odd standard Clinton has when it comes to smears. When the entertainment mogul David Geffen, once a Clinton supporter, called both Bill and Hillary liars, Hillary not only decried the remark as a particularly vivid example of the "politics of personal destruction," but she also demanded that Barack Obama do the same -- and return a $2,300 donation from Geffen. Yet when Clinton herself was asked to repudiate the abuse of Petraeus, she either saw no reason to do so or, much more likely, was afraid to alienate an important constituency, the 3.3 million members of MoveOn.org, who stand symbolically at the frontiers of New Hampshire and Iowa. She would, it seems, rather be president than be right. (links in original)

Cohen should have also added that in her deliberate challenge to his credibility, she attempted to fan those flames even further.

But she aspires to be the Commander in Chief!

How the hell did these two scumbags ever get elected... JimB

Menedez didn't get elected, he was appointed by Corzine when he vacated his senate seat to ruin NJ. As for Lousyberg, he was dragged out of retirement a few years back when the Dems had nobody to run. They are both despicable loony left-wing moon bats. what I don't understand is why, if NJ is the richest state in the nation, we vote like we're the poorest...?
