Corzine Lucky To Be Alive
Our thoughts are with the Governor Corzine and his family. We wish him a full and speedy recovery.

In New Jersey, the driver is responsible for all passengers to wear a seat belt. Shouldn't the trooper get a ticket?
No, the Trooper should not get a ticket. New Jersey’s seat belt law (NJS 39:3-76.2f) makes the driver responsible for proper seat belt use by all occupants who are under the age of 18.
It is hard to feel bad for Corzine when he was not wearing his seatbelt and State Troopers were aware of this:
Corzine 'not wearing seatbelt' in crash
I wish no one ill will but when you are as irresponsible as our governor is and apparently thinks he is above the law and has comliance from the police where we would be ticketed and fined it appears the corruption in NJ has simply gotten worse under Corzine. So no any sympathy I had for the man is gone.
"Mr Coley said it did not appear that Mr Corzine had been wearing a seatbelt, a violation of New Jersey law. On Thursday, a New Jersey police official said Mr Corzine often did not wear a seatbelt."
BTW what sort of example is his irresponsible actions supposed to represent to our children in NJ? I wear my seatbelt not for fear of being fined but because I understand the dangers of driving without it. This simply proves Corzine is incompetent and has no business running this state. Let me make this clear, I wish injury on no one but the fact that the passengers wearing their seatbelts were not injured proves my point. Any state trooper aware of this should have been fired as well.
Yes, Governor Corzine should have been wearing a seatbelt. We’ll bet he and everyone else wishes he had buckled-up, but unfortunately it appears he wasn’t. He didn’t cause the accident, although he’s certainly paying a price far greater than any fine. A ticket for failing to wear a seat belt serves a purpose before an accident, after it just seems petty and pointless.
Corzine made an error in judgment that may have well changed his life forever. We know he’s experienced excruciating pain and is currently fighting for his life. He faces a horribly painful road to recovery. His family in undoubtedly sick with worry and will suffer along with him, every painful step of the way. He and his family have our sympathy and our prayers.
We hope some good will come from this. People, who never think something like this could happen to them - perhaps like Corzine, will change their ways and buckled up. We had also hoped folks would put away the politics and see this situation for what it is, a human tragedy worthy of compassion.
But that is the point this isn't about politics but common sense. I don't care who it is, if they are in an accident and severely injured because they were too stupid to wear a seatbelt I have no sympathy for them. I do have sympathy for their family who now has to deal with Corzine being irresponsible. The State Trooper's aware that he frequently did not wear his seat belt are negligent of their duty for not ticketing him prior to this incident. Corzine getting a seat belt ticket months before this may have shamed him into wearing a seatbelt and not putting his family through this grief. But yes in the end the ultimate responsibility rests with Corzine. None of which changes my opinion of it nor the absolute lack of sympathy I have for him after learning this. This has nothing to do with politics.
Enlighten:
I stand corrected.
You know, today is just one of those days when you hate to be right for me.
I knew these people were demented but, good lord!!
dino,I wouldn't call Corzine demented , irresponsible and stupid yes
If he wore a seatbelt would he have been released like everyone else that was in the SUV? Is NJ self insured? Who will pay for Corzine's medical expenses, NJ?
Why because he wasn't wearing a seatbelt. I think our tax dollar would be better spent. Just my 2 cents.
Let's see. 91 MPH. Emergency lights being used improperly. Lying and saying you were going 65 MPH. A passenger with no seat belt. Reckless, careless and I think negligent behavior by another arogant trooper.
Nary a ticket to be found.
It sounds like they basically forced the two pickup trucks off the road (or at least out of the way) while traveling 90+ mph on the way to a photo op. For the legal eagles out there, could the trooper and/or Gov. have faced criminal charges if the pickup drivers had been killed?
We finally know the vehicle was traveling 91 miles an hour - but do we have all the facts yet? Several EMT friends who have years of experience responding to highway accidents are very sceptical that the taumatic and extremely severe injuries of the Governor were suffered inside the vehicle - their vote is partial or complete ejection.
We'll probably never know for sure.
