2006 has not been a good year for the Enlighten-New Jersey gang. We have lost three dear ones since October so blogging just hasn’t been on our to do list. I know my heart just isn’t in it and I’m not sure it will be going forward. We’ll see.
Despite all of your loss and pain this year, you need to remember that you are loved. We would not be who we are today without your presence in our lives. I hope that 2007 brings you peace and healing.
Whatever your decision, I would like to thank you for what I think is one of the best NJ blogs around. You have always been good about including links to support your positions, which has often prove to be great resource materials. Even if I direct readers to you that do not agree with your analysis or the way an issue have been framed, they have to come away "enlighted" - the first step in changing anyone's mind. I think you are doing some very valuable work here, and hope you will reconsider. Perhaps you could recruit some other quality NJ bloggers to join you?
Enlighten, I'm so sorry for your losses, and I want to thank you for your tireless education of folks on the state of things here in NJ. My prayer for your 2007 is peace, contentment and joy, and I hope you will be able to keep sharing your thoughts with us. I find them very valuable.
E-NJ, My sympathies for your losses in what appears to have been a brutal 2006 for you; may you find some comfort and peace in the upcoming year... I hope you rediscover your passion for blogging; if an extended break is what it takes (and I've taken a few myself), please endulge yourself for as long as is necessary! You have been a leader among us; and our informal "movement" would be diminished without your voice. Take some time, regain your strength, and when you feel you are ready....
My sympathies to the E-Gang on your losses. That's horrible, and I can see how it would sap you of the energy to grind out things every day in a blog.
Having said that, I agree with the other commenters who have noted how important you are to the blogosphere in general and New Jersey in particular. Your positions are always well reasoned, well written and supported by facts. The 'Sphere needs more of that.
Perhaps after an understandable break, your desire to contribute to the ongoing "discussion" will return.
In any event, I wish you all a better 2007 and one in which you will find peace.
This has always been my favorite NJ blog and I have been sorry to see postings have stopped. Often, bloggers feel guilty when they stop posting regularly but this is normal, if you think about it.
You might consider soliciting new writers for a group blog about NJ. At the very least, don't feel guilty for not posting. Your entries and reasoning have been a great service to interesed readers but it is not realistic to think they can go on forever. Again, great blog, great points of view, great arguments.
My condolences too. I linked your blog sometime back, and find your posts very interesting and informative. Here's hoping that 2007 is better for you guys and that we will see you up and blogging before long. Legislative elections, you know. We'll need all the voices we can get to try, at least try to put Jersey on the right track. My best wishes for you and yours in '07.
ENJ - I'm very sorry to hear of your troubles. It takes a lot out of you to lose a loved one, and three in a short time is truly wrenching. Take all the time you need, and if you feel up to it again, let us know. We'll be back.
