After admitting and then denying that he is under criminal investigation,
Bob Menendez now admits he has hired criminal defense attorney Marc Elias to represent him in a federal corruption probe.
After federal investigators subpoenaed records in September regarding a rental deal Menendez had with a nonprofit agency he helped get federal funds, Elias notified the U.S. Attorney's Office he was representing the senator in the matter.
Elias also represented former U.S. Sen. Robert Torricelli (D-N.J.) when Torricelli faced an ethics investigation that led him to drop out of his re-election campaign in 2002...
Will this news hurt Menendez in the senate race against Tom Kean? It might in some states, but probably not in New Jersey.
“A new poll released yesterday shows that more than half of the state's registered voters do not know that Menendez is our United States senator.”
Pathetic.

There are still a lot of likely voters in New Jersey that remain undecided and say that they could change their minds before Election Day.
I hope to God that they swing into Kean's favor.
It is indeed pathetic that half the registered voters don't know that Bob Menendez is our U.S. Senator. It is equally pathetic that so many of those who do know that he is our Senator (albeit an unelected one) don't seem to care that he is a Hudson County crook.
It doesn't matter that half of the voters don't know who he is because only a quarter of the registered voters will vote anyway.
Elections in this country have become a joke. The two major parties are virtually identical big spemnders beholdened to corporate interests. The people know it and have stoped participating.
It's not just the voters. There are some ignorant local candidates in my town, Bloomingdale. I was telling them about how for every $1 in federal taxes collected in NJ, we receive only 57 cents back and they said: The governor should stop sending so much money to Washington. And they want to run this town. (They are Republicans).
Only in NJ can we elect Candidate that is under criminal investigation by the FBI and 4 days before hires the same lawyer that was to defend the last NJ Senator brought under investigation. Will the last hard working resident that can't afford to stay and has to move out of state, please shut off the lights.
