Jon Corzine – In His Own Words
We’ve never been impressed with Corzine’s ability to articulate his positions or opinions and this set of quotes has not caused us to change our minds. His rambling answer to the question of what he would like to do as governor is especially pathetic, as well as, frightening.
In his own words - excerpts from Senator Jon Corzine's interview with The Record in Washington: as reported by North Jersey.Com in the article Driven By Ambition.
On studying the art of the sound bite, one of his distinct weaknesses in the 2000 Senate campaign:
"I was pretty lousy in a lot of ways in, sort of, media presentation and all that stuff when I got into this, because I never did any of this. I've tried to go on [Fox News Channel's] 'Hannity and Colmes.' ... I've tried to practice on this stuff."
On Garden State corruption, and U.S. Attorney Christopher J. Christie's aggressive prosecution of it:
"I'm - like everybody else, Republicans and Democrats - sick and tired of reading about all this crap. ... I want it to stop. I have no problem with what Chris Christie is doing. I have no problem. God bless him."
On some of what he would like to do as governor:
"And I'd like the public to think that somebody was managing [the state's annual budget of] $28 billion rationally, and trying to get optimal benefit for education and health care out of that, and that the money was being well-spent and that we were really doing something about creating jobs for everybody so that the place was more affordable."
